About Acupuncture
Acupuncture was originally designed as a method of preventative health care. Acupuncturists use hair-thin needles to access specific points in your body that stimulate the vital qi (lifeforce) to induce your own body's ability to heal itself. Unfortunately acupuncture is a tool of last resort for most people. Acupuncture is a wonderful complementary therapy that has little or no side effects other than good health and is ideal as a form of holistic healthcare. Acupuncture has been gaining more popularity in Jacksonville, Florida as more people are looking for preventative care rather than just relief of symptoms.
According to the 1997 report by the National Institute of Health (NIH) panel, there is clear evidence of the following biological effects of acupuncture:
• release of endorphins, substances that inhibit pain
• regulation of endocrine function (hormone regulation)
• increased circulation
• enhanced immune function
Acupuncture can also help with many health conditions including:
- Anxiety Attacks and Stress
- Digestion Problems...and More

About You
For your first visit, be prepared to spend 1 hour at your appointment. The first hour will include a medical interview and a physical exam and an acupuncture treatment. All needles are sterile and pre-packaged for your safety.
Prepare for your first visit by not wearing any makeup or fragrance and abstaining from any stimulants (coffee, caffeinated tea, alcohol, etc...). If you are coming for an herbal consultation, refrain from eating blueberries. Also refrain from ingesting stimulants and wearing fragrance for all subsequent visits.
After your acupuncture treatment, please drink lots of water (room temperature is best) and refrain from taking any stimulants that day. It is normal to see a reoccurrence of old medical symptoms after the first few visits. This is just a clearing of old illnesses in your body and the symptoms should disappear within 2 days.
Some people experience amazing results after the first few treatments and some people see results after a longer period has passed. Because the health benefits of acupuncture are cumulative, you must commit to 5 weekly sessions in the beginning of treatment. After 5 sessions, your case is reevaluated. For acute conditions you may only need 5 treatments total. For those with chronic conditions you may be able to space your treatments to every 2-3 weeks (after the first 5 visits) dependent upon your results and medical history. Treat your body as a temple through good diet, exercise, and acupuncture and you will begin seeing positive changes in your health with time.
Insurance & Payment
We are currently able to accept most insurance plans. Having a referral from your M.D. for an unspecified number of acupuncture treatments will increase the chances that your insurance plan will cover your care - please call for additional details. If you do not have insurance or an FSA or HSA plan to cover your acupuncture care then I can still give you a medical receipt so that you can potentially write the expense off on your yearly taxes. The health benefits and sense of well-being that you will receive from acupuncture far outweighs the cost of treatment. Acupuncture treatments are an investment into your health which will result in fewer colds, pains, illnesses, and doctor's visits. I accept cash, check, and payment via Paypal. To send a payment via Paypal use my email address mandarinhealing@yahoo.com. Please submit your Paypal payment prior to your scheduled visit.
